Learn to Quilt Series - Simple Sawtooth Star Quilt
I am beyond excited to be sharing a new learn to quilt series on my Tiktok (@maggielamphear) and Youtube! This time instead of using precut squares, I will be showing how to make this simple sawtooth star pattern from fat quarters.
In this series I am making a baby size out of 12 blocks, but I also wanted to share the fabric requirements for a few other sizes. Make sure to tag me on TikTok or Instagram if you share your finished quilts on social media!

Happy Quilting!
If you are wanting to buy yardage instead of fat quarters, each fat quarter would need approximately 1/4 yard.
The scrappy fat quarter version in this series will yield a decent amount of cut scraps perfect for smaller projects or another patchwork quilt!
Size:
Wall Hanging - 4 blocks (2x2 block layout 24”x24”) - 4 fat quarters, 7/8 yards backing and batting, 1/4 yard binding fabric (3 - 2.5” strips)
Baby (size pictured) - 12 blocks (3x4 block layout 36”x48”) - 12 fat quarters, 1-3/4 yards backing and batting, 1/2 yard binding (5 - 2.5” strips)
Throw Size - 36 blocks (6x6 block layout 72”x72”) - 36 fat quarters, 4-1/4 yards backing and batting, 3/4 yard binding fabric (8 - 2.5” strips)
Twin - 48 blocks (6x8 block layout, 72”x96”) - 48 fat quarters, 5-5/8 yards backing and batting, 3/4 yard binding fabric (9 - 2.5” strips)
If you’re new please let go of any perfectionism and just have fun! That’s what quilting is all about!
